Suzanne recently wrote a book review for a newly organized book club created by podcasters, Penny & Sam @podcast: Backpack Chit Chat. This is a super cool and informative podcast from two moms who are teachers with a lot in common, and plenty to share. Their tips and advice can help you throughout your journey as a teacher and/or mom.
In January 2023, the podcast added a book club! If you would like to join, send an email to backpackchitchat@gmail.com and they will add you to the email list. You will also be able to ask questions and add your thoughts and take on each chapter.
The first book of study is The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak, written by Shannon Bream. The book is full of lessons on faith from nine Biblical families. You can purchase a copy of this book on Amazon.
Below is the first chapter review written by Suzanne.
Jochebed’s life is the perfect example of the importance and eternal impact of Motherhood! As praying mothers, we can see and feel a deeper perspective for our children. Not only in the physical but in the spiritual realm. We dedicate our children as babies to God. Longing for God to not only protect them and keep them from evil but to also use them to advance His kingdom.
The foundation Jochebed laid out for her children made all the difference decades later. Together, this trio of siblings would lead their people to freedom under God’s direction and protection. Jochebed and her daughter Miriam, took bold and courageous moves to protect Moses from death as an infant because a mother sensed that God had a plan.
Surely she felt devastated when she learned of Moses’s murderous act and now he is a fugitive. How could this be a part of God’s plan for the deliverance of Israel? No doubt she continued in prayer for her son. Did Jochebed envision such a phenomenal outcome for her children? Moses-lead administrator of Israel’s freedom from Egypt. Miriam-prophetess and leader among Israel. Aaron- founder of Israel’s priesthood. Though, she may not have known God’s exact master plan, through prayer she had the deeper perspective or intuition that God was working all things for good.
What are your hopes, dreams, and prayers for your child? Whatever they may be, don’t ever underestimate your mother connection with the Almighty- Your mission field begins with your children. So I ask you, who are you raising? A Moses, Miriam, Aaron?
